Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just took off the bumper to get a better look at the ate up crossmember. I hasn't spread to the frame rails yet, only a milimeter or 2 of surface rust.
Can it be saved or do I need to track down another Gen 1?
I am willing and able to drop the serious coin on getting it fixed right and good, Ideally I want to be able to tow when I move west to Oregon. I do not expect to pay less then $1000 for a quality fabricator to fix up the back end amongst having a few other welding things done.

Contact Jim Napiorowski (MI_Mitsu) or the AZ Crew. To my knowledge, these are the only guys here actively parting Monteros. Also, the SWB V6 models share this piece.

Body Damage is Cool
That should be a relatively simple piece for a competent fabricator to make.

Fabricating a new remember crossmember is no big deal, i can almost guarantee that the next crossmember is in equal shape. Also check the area on the frame rail between the two, however if you're coming to the west coast I recommend stopping in Az and picking up a new completely rust free Montero. I can have one here for you in ANY trim, ANY engine and ANY transmission. Think about it.
