I drove from LA to San Jose a week ago in my supercharged SR5 with ECT power on... got 15 mpg!!! I was mad. I hadn't changed my air filter in about 8 months, so I went to the stealership and picked up two, and dropped one in right away in the parking lot.

Driving back down to LA, I cruised at a similar speed, and left the ECT power off most of the time. My mpg jumped up to 18!! I was cruising steadily around 80mph without much traffic for 250 miles, so I think the increased fuel economy had more to do with the air filter than the ECT power button.

So for those of you that periodically ask about your fuel economy, change your air filter every 6 months or less. A $10 air filter is much cheaper than a couple gallons of gas.

other thing is to make sure your rear diff fluid is changed and is topped off.

driving from my home to johnson valley is around 460 miles.

going there, i didnt know at the time, but i was low on the rear diff lube. got around 15'ish.

going home, i topped off because i found out i had this issue...

but you know what? i avg 18-20 mpg going home...
