Just following up on Tad's Article about the lockers availability and price. For the folks that made a deposit, please contact OK4WD ASAP since they are in the process of clearing their inventory and OK4WD is UNABLE to reach you by phone or via mail. Jim's selling these units(8) for a low price of $399 in part because of the deposits collected early last year. Expect to pay about $15 for shipping. Price is going back to $550+ range once this batch is sold.

I'm confused, so please educate me.

This is an ARB air locker, right? Is it for the rear or front diff? I was looking to buy one for the rear (to start).

I've read that if you can only afford one locker, it's best to start with a rear locker.

But I've also read that if you already have an LSD rear (I do) that you should lock the front first. Which is it?

This past Sunday, I almost got stuck in about three feet of slimy, soupy mud...more like liquid clay, if you know what I mean. The pit was deeper than I thought. I was going fine, slippin' and sliding around, when all of a sudden, the front of truck sunk. Like a stone. Put it this way, there was only about three inches of the top of my front tires visible...and I have 285/70's! The front bumper was completely covered, halfway up the grill.

I got out by nailing it in reverse. 4 LO, tranny in low gear, and just wailing on the gas and cranking the steering left-right-left.

There's no doubt in my mind that my tires are what got me out, but if I was locked, I'd have been out of there a few minutes sooner.

For that price I think the choice is easy. That is a damn good deal.

I agree with Jim. At that price, the choice is easy. I wasn't planning on putting one in, but, when I saw this AWESOME deal, I ordered mine yesterday. I'll still only have a limited slip in the rear for a while. Now I'll have three mods...Jim's Shrockworks Sliders (Thank you, Jim...they're great!), the ARB in front, and an onboard air system from junkyard parts to run the ARB (provided that I have room to install the system).

At this rate, it will take sevaral years, but someday I'll have a capable vehicle.

Has anyone gotten their Front ARB locker installed yet? I can't spare the time to take mine in (we've already got about 2ft of snow this season and are expecting about 4" again tonight - pregnant wife wants the Trooper available at all times) and was wondering if I should warn the guy about any Isuzu specific problems when I take it in?

No problems with the front ARB as long as you don't have a 1998 Amigo/Rodeo.

Is that right guys?

That is correct to the best of my knowledge. Sam installed his in his 88 Trooper. Dan Russo had his installed in his 98 Amigo, but he used the 3rd member from my 88 Trooper, which fit into the axle housing in his 98 amigo and eliminated the annoyances with the 98 Amigo 3rd member.

I'll have mine installed in my 94 Trooper as soon as my bearing puller arrives... I hope
