Okay, well many of you saw the much lauded Isuzu emblem on my front grill in Moab. Thanks Craig, and I think a couple other PNWIORs. Anyways, the coordinator at work today asked me why I had it and I explained and he says: "You know what Isuzu stands for right? Its Japanese for Chevy."
Food for thought, but don't forget this is Wyoming. <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" />

My father-in-law acts like he's sneezing when he says it: "I....I...I....IsuZu" "God bless them", I reply.

THere was actually a newspaper article a couple of months ago on the origin of vehicle manufacturer names...I seem to recall that Isuzu is named after a holy river in Japan, or something like that, memory is hazy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> . Maybe Eiji knows for sure...

Close, Featherfoot, close:
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, Helv, Helvetica, Sans">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, Helv, Helvetica, Sans">Isuzu in So. "Fart" translates to "shuzi". I know the Moab crew has more than one herein unmentioned co-rider whose personal theme song should be "If you knew Shuzi like I know Suzi, oh, oh, how i annoy..." <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
Fart can also be "jamba" which you Cajuns must have in mind before, during and after whomping up some jamba-laya. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
Don't mix up jamba with "Jumbo" which Disney had in mind in naming his elephant "Dumbo" (and marketers adopted for extra-large items) unless you are riding with ( ) who is notorious for his Jumbo-sized jamba.
Tip to the driver in Africa: avoid filling tire treads with elephant dung or you'll be smelling jumbo jamba during java breaks.
And as for "Jambo" which is "Hello" be careful to greet the locals with "Hello" and NOT words that sound like you are calling them elephant fart. <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" />
Seriously, learn "hello"----"jambo". Swahili/Kiswahili is the most common language coin throughout Africa, and it pleasant startles those you meet from Africa when you greet them with Swahili. Sures breaks the ice for quicker friendliness as it were.
Meaning of ISUZU: more to come later... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Shiner]" title="" src="graemlins/shiner.gif" /> Cheers, Norman
