Anybody here switched to this type of oil? If so, what is the motive for the change, i.e.,looking for less oil consumption.

I am planning to use Castrol 10-30w High Mileage on my next oil/filter change to see if this oil can actually reduce the amount of oil added to the 3.5L motor between changes.

I have used the Vavoline and even Quaker State brand of these types of oils and I have no complaints. My car that I used it in (before sold at 120k miles) had it in all the time, never burnt oil. It is though a blend, and not a straight syn.

I don't know if it is better for the car or not, but it worked well for what thats worth. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

marketing bullshit. Requirements of high-milage
motors and new engines are very similar. And for
the modern engines (3.5 Trooper engine is quite
modern) 75K is nothing, if they have used
a quality oil brand. If you would have 88 Trooper,
it could have some sense. But yours is 99.

If you have no leaks around, you can use good
synthetic to minimize oil consumption.
I use Royal Purple 5W-30 synthetic in my Rodeo
and the oil consumption is almost zero.
Well, I have only 17+K miles on my Rodeo.
The consumption is getting smaller each
oil change. Currently, it is something like
1/4 quarts per 3000 miles when I drive
fast a lot. During normal city/freeway driving,
the consumption is unnoticable.
