Lowe's is closing out most of their Kobalt brand tools.

If you need a decent socket or two you might stop in a Lowes and see what they have left. For 1/2" drive 6pt sockets the price is around $2 each. Some stores may even have a few wrenches left at 60+% off list.

The Lowes stores here have reduced there stock, but none of it was on sale. One of the employees I ask had no clue what I was talking about. And they are made at the same plant as the snap on, but are a different design. Still good quality, especially when on sale.

I bought two huge socket sets that were missing the ratchets. They were already on sale to close them out and I git them to take $35 more off each one for the missing ratchet. I paid something like $60 for a TON of sockets and extensions and such.

I have a bunch of the old Kobalt tools and like them. I found this on another board:

-------------

On Feb. 6, 2003; I received the following email from Dave Johnson with an update on Kobalt tools:

Just to update on the Lowe's Kobalt line, Kobalt is no longer going to be made by J.H. Williams (a division of Snap On). The new tools are to be made by Danaher. I have been told that the majority of the tools will be made to the exact same specifications as the older tools made by Williams. The new tools boxes are to be made by Waterloo. The tools boxes hit the stores next month. The tools arive sometime around april. I learned this when I called there customer service number, 1-888-3KOBALT.

----------

Danaher owns Matco and is the maker of the new Craftsman tools.
