My 4X4 is a Mitsubishi pajero (Montero) equipped with a 2.6 litre engine ( 4G54) with mikuni carburetor and is about 11 years old. Model is same as NG series with hydraulic tappets
Curently I am having a problem with the carburetor, such that when you step on the accelerator, there is a "dip" in power before it recovers and speed up.
Timing, fuel pump, fuel filter, all had been checked and are in order.
Tyh1
Distributor is CEI type.
Hope some of our more experience member could throw some light on the problem.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Check Vacuum Lines, Air cleaner, fuel filter.
Could be the Depression chamber is leaking, and not getting enough suction to open the secondary. (My Problem, now corrected)

Yes, In order for the 2 bbl carb to open the 2nd bbl, the primary throttle in near wide open throttle, then vacuum pulls the secondary throttle open.
Yes, This is very strange to me too.... i'm used to mechanical linkage opening the secondary.
The Vacuum pulls a diaphram in what mitsubishi calls a "depression Chamber".
It is located at the Rear of the carb on the engine side... (yes it is buried)
see for details: http://www.outdoorwire.com/content/4x4/mitsubishi/tech/mikuni/
