Hey Guys,
Over the weekend my "Anti-Lock" warning light iluminated and wont reset. The normal "Self-Test" that the ABS system goes thru when you first start your truck does not occur anymore. I took a look at my shop manual and after reading thru it I think that it might be a bad relay? Any thoughts or ideas? Should i try resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery? Thanks for the help.

This solution may sound a little off the wall but we have a mechanic show on the radio here and someone called in with the exact problem. The guy recomended a brake fluid flush. Said the fluid actually turns black and does something to abs sensors. Take it with a grain of salt but you never know.

Yeah my truck is starting to aggravate me. I just had some expensive front end work done and now the ABS craps out. Unfortunatly, the only definite wqay to know what exactly is wrong is to plug in a Mitsubishi scanner and read the error code. And of course I dont have one. So it looks like I will need to grab my ankles and goto the dealer. HOwever, im tempted to just order a ABS relay and replace the old one and see if that does the trick. Also, it could be a bad speed sensor on one of the wheels. The light came on a day after I had to slog thru some deep mud to pull a dead tree into the woods. Who knows. Ill let you know when I find out. In the meantime any other opinions?

The abs sensors "read" small corrugations on the back side of the brake disk. There may be mud caked between the sensor and the disk, or filling the grooves in the corrugation. Just a thought.

I tried the suggestion in Chilton's Manual. Take out the G-sensor, bring it to a Mitsubishi dealer and have it tested.
If there is something wrong with the G-sensor, you can always, buy one and change it yourself.
In my case, it worked. I did not even have it tested, just gambled.

Loooks to me its electronical. Oregon how long have you been driving around with the ABS disabled? The dealer cant fit my truck in until Monday so I need to use my rig a couple of times over the weekend. Just kind of worried about the braking system failing, iI know the "normal" system and the ABS are kind of seperate but Im just trying to see if there is a MAJOR issue with driving like this for a couple of days.

I have been going about six months with it this way, the brakes actually work great, when wheeling in the snow they actually work better.
