Hey,
I'm putting in a fuel pre-heater and was wondering if anyone has done this before. On top of the C2223 motor just off to the right of the thermostat housing are two hot water heater hoses that go to the heater core. There they attach at the firewall.
Anyone have an idea which is the send or receive? I want the hot water from the motor to go through the fuel preheater FIRST somehow and then continue on to the heater core.

Second question: I saw a heater core for sale on ebay for a NA 2223 diesel engine in a pickup truck some time back and in examining the photo of it, noticed it had a mechanical cut off switch. I think it's the same heater core as in the trooper, so if I assume correctly, this cuts off the hot water to the heater core if the heater controller on the dash is set to cool only. If this is the case, do I want to attach my send and receive for the pre-heater to the heater core hose? Wouldn't the heat to the heater core(and the preheater)stop if the dash setting was set to cool?
Is this making any sense?

Interesting idea, but may I ask why?
Diesel Fuel #2 (DF@) remains in a luquid state and suitable for the engine to about 20F (some say 18). DF! (also know as DF-Arctic{Which by the way is Jet-A1} is good to minus 65F at least.
If teh fuel is in a luquid state (no "waxing") then heating seems like an extra effort. If the fule isn't luquid change to DF1 , wiat till spring or move.:-)
Please don;t take my comment wrong I applaud any new idea or add-on.

healthy glow plug operation, and a block heater which the C223T has provision for might be a better solution.

The reason I'm putting in a preheater is to heat up the SVO (straight vegetable oil) just behind the second OEM filter assembly. The SVO is coming out of a secondary fuel tank.

Ahhh SVO ! OK got it. Good idea then. Would running the SVO pipe along side the exhaust pipe do the job? Naturally you wouldn't want it ot get oo hot. Possible running it through some stancions or stand-offs and let the hot Exhaust pipe physically trasnfer heat to the tube(pipe) carrying the SVO.

Have you had good success with SVO in your truck?
