Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Hey everybody. New to the group and thought I'd start out by asking a question about a couple of Isuzu Troopers I'm interested in getting. I want to put an 86 turbo-diesel motor out of a 4x4 five speed into a 89 4x4 automatic gas body(blown headgasket.) Anybody know if this is possible? I did check the archives but didn't see anything specific. Would the bell housings match? Thanks. Jesse

Sorry to have to tell you this but the bolt patterns are different from gas to diesel. You should grab the diesel tranny wiring harness and everything else you can get your hands on if you want to swap them over. You can take the front case half of a diesel and swap it with your gear sets as an option.
Your probably going to find the 2.2 TD a big change in performance. On the down side. If money is no not an problem you can import a 3.0 TD Jackeroo from down under for about $6K. Contact me off line and I'll give you my sources down there if you want to think about that one.
Welcome to the group. CJ
