: Who's the genius at Isuzu that designed the location of the starter in the 3.2L Rodeos? This guy need a beating.

: Is there a trick to getting it out or will I be forced to remove part of the exhaust and the cross-member just behing the catalytic converter?

Any tips would be appreciated.

I can't speak for the Rodeo but with the my Trooper, I had to remove a section of the exhaust but not the crossmember(this may be different for you rig). However even with that I was done the complete job in less than an hour.
Good Luck.

I had to remove the exhaust on my 97 rodeo 3.2 v6 to replace my starter. There is no other way to get it out. I had to remove the exhaust by taking off the manifolds. After that it just come right off. Make sure you soak those bolts with some good penetrating oil before you go taking them out.

Ok I was already to take my Exhuast apart to Replace starter being as I had read many post Re: starter Replacment, just that as stated in all post the the bolts on the exhuast where very tight. So I released the starter from it's position and started messing with it and if you pass it hand to hand you can take it out the front of the engine near Radiator. I had to replace it 3 times (1st time to replace, 2nd time I left it loose and Broke Housing, 3rd to replace broken Housing)and I never took off the Exhuast. So if you want to try It, I think all I took off was front Skid plate. So it's your Choice.
