Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi All

New to the list and glad to have found it. Really great resource. I recently purchased an '89 4x4 PU with 71K on the 22RE and no rust. In the NE no less!

A previous question about front bumpers got me thinking about what common parts do the yota's share or not share. I am most interested in what is common to the 4runner and the PU in the '89-95 vintages or even with later models.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Jim

Most parts are interchangable as they are built on the same frame. The biggest difference is the coil rear suspension on the 4Runners (vs. leaf springs on trucks). You could swap the motors, seats, transmissions, dashes, and a million other parts. Toyota is pretty good about parts compatibility. Andy Zook put a Supra motor in his 4Runner and it bolted right to the tranny!

Body Damage is Cool
The compatibility also exits between 2WD & 4WD pickups and 4Runners of the same generation.

i think the fact that most all the toyota engines use the same oil filter is cool, V6's, I4's, and I6's. i have a 3.0 v6 4runner, my dad has a 22re 4runner, and i just got a 22r truck. they all use the same filter, kinda cool, compared to most companies at least. we go to the dealer and buy a few at the time, they are cheaper too that way, at some dealers.
