ever since I have converted to hysteer i have had speed wables and a tire wobble problem. Every thing (tie rod ends, bearings etc..) all feel nice and tight. But while driving at around 25mph i get a little tire wobble. and at all speads i get like speed wobbles. So, i thought that i would adj my 9000 to the firmest setting, (usely they are at 1) the speed wables were not a bad, but had a tearble tire wable problem. When I look out the window while driving, i can see my tire moving a lot, back and forth. which in turn shakes the whole truck.
It never did this when i had the old steering on it. After this, i put a steering stablizer on, and it helped a little, but still shake a little, i also put the shock back down to 1, so the terable shaking is mimamal. but the wheel still shakes back and forth. Anybody have any ideas.
Thanks
Shane

------------------
PARANOIDS PAGES "Of all the things I lost, I miss my mind the most."
1984 Toyota 4x4 SR5 X-Cab

Could not feel anything loose until I disconnected the u-bolts and was amazed how much play I had in the front leaf springs, downright scary. New set of poly bushings and the steering was solid as a rock.
I had been running poly bushings but they were 3 years old and were just worn out.

------------------
--
Roger Brown
4crawler@home.com
4Crawler Web page

What Roger said and you may also want to check the shims on the knuckles. With the axle and steering removed it should take about 10 lbs of force to turn each knuckle. If your knuckles are loose they will cause play in the front end. Did you reuse the shims from your old arms and put them on the new arms?

Yea, i reused the shims that were in there. but the spring bushings do look warn. This weekend i will be putting in the new allpro drop hanger, and new longer allpro springs, with the new poly bushings. Hopefully it will help. Thanks
Shane
------------------
PARANOIDS PAGES "Of all the things I lost, I miss my mind the most."
1984 Toyota 4x4 SR5 X-Cab

Also check your shackle bushings! Let me know if you need a set!

Make sure that your toe-in is set between 1/8-1/4"
------------------
Maybe this world is another planet's Hell.
David Fritzsche, 1990 Ex-V-6, "NO-MO-IFS" otto@inreach.com
http://www.geocities.com/solid_4x4/

Shane,
Have you checked your toe-in? My wheel shakes a little bit as well and I'm sure it's because I don't have enough toe-in and I'm at about 1/8". Marlin says that he usually shoots for around 1/4" with 33-35" tires and crossover steering. Just another thing to check.

------------------
Tim -- '84 Shortbed
http://www.theworks.com/~fmfcr125/toyota/

I think my toe in is set at 0, so i will have to fix that this weekend, when i do the new springs. I never thought of that, i always thought that 0toe in was the best. less rolling resistance.
Shane
------------------
PARANOIDS PAGES "Of all the things I lost, I miss my mind the most."
1984 Toyota 4x4 SR5 X-Cab
