truck wont idle, and has a slight miss #20552 02/10/03 12:43 AM

Good afternoon, I was driving home today, and when I cam to a stop on the off ramp, my truck died. I started it up and it wouldnÆt idle, if I would let up on the gas, once it drops below 1000 it would die. It also now has a slight miss. I had to sit as light with my foot on the gas, a real PITA
I checked my coil, it makes a spark, the wires also work, and I replaced the fuel filter. It is getting fuel, the float is where it should be. I checked all the vacuum lines, all looked good. I searched the archives, and I saw something about a idle solenoid, but I donÆt know were that is on my truck, a 84 Toyota 4x4, 22r. Fed model. Please help, this is my DD.
Thanks
Shane

When accerating does the miss dissappear around 2500 RPMs? From your description first thing I think of is a stuck open egr valve. Best and quickest way to verify this is to disconnect the pipe between the valve and intake manifold and temporarily block off the intake where it mounts. If EGR is stuck open and allowing spent gases to enter the intake prior to 2,000-2,500 rpms then the ECU isnt compensating for the extra volume of air...if that makes any sense. If your miss goes away while blocked and idle returns to normal then you found your problem. ~Darin

well i just tried that, and when i first did it, it would ldle bad, but it would idle, then it stoped. I checked the plug and it was still there. So, it still doent idle.
