gimick or worthwhile? I hear conflicting arguments, and was wondering if anybody around here has any input on the topic.

has anybody tried machining their own? I cant see paying $60-$80 for a $5 block of aluminum, $3 in bolts, and half an hour in a machine shop. is there a good rule to follow when calculating the thickness of the spacer? has anybody experimented with a venturi style bore on a spacer?

I built my own spacer out of a 1 inch block of
T-6061 with a 55mm bore, than portmatch it with a 4.0L TB and the Intake manifold.
It Did Help. Hell Ya. I can hold 80+ on the freeway in 5 gear. this is on a 92 yj 2.5L with 140,000 miles
Over at 4 bangers we had a guy make 4 different size and he like 1 and 1.25 the most.
