I have an 86 cj7 with a 4 inch Procomp lift and a 1 inch body lift. I am running 35 inch tires on 10 inch rims. I have lockers front and rear. I am not running a sway bar. I am having problems with suspension travel. It seems like the suspension is to stiff. I have seen other jeeps with leaf springs that travel real well but I have not been able to talk to the owners. Every time I go through some rough stuff I lift a tire off of the ground. Is there something I am missing? I am pretty new to the jeep thing and want to go to Moab next year with a group of friends. I would like to get my suspension better before we go.
Thanks, Bryan Rennick

my Friend has a pro comp lift and it is VERY stiff im not sure if it is your jeep that is the problem or your suspension but all the guys i know who like going to the dunes in there jeeps have a procomp lift and they sail there jeeps. you might be able to soften it up if you take out one of the bottom leafs. that or you order the wrong suspension. Next time you get a wheel in the air stop and look for things binding up. and check the amount of travel you get with your shocks. they might be limiting you as well

don't know if this is true or not but i've heard of your leaf u-bolts being over torqued causing travel to be hindered.

Everything I've read on this and other Jeeping forums points toward the fact that Pro Comp leaf spring Jeep suspensions are noted for being stiff. Perhaps removing the bottom leaf would soften things up.
