Well after everybody's advice, i picked up a Tconnector(stated no splicing etc, hopefully that's true) from that ebay website for 16 bucks total, shipping included. The dealer wanted 170 and napa and auto zone were around 70. Sheese...!! Now my question is, i kinda looked around but was unable to exactly identify how this thing plugs in and works, etc. Can some one help "dummy" it down for me.
Really appreciated..

I can tell you what not to do. Dont' put those wires near the hole in the bumper for the spare tire wrench. Thats were some asshat put mine and in the dark I couldn't figure out why it kept getting tighter when I was turning it. Then all of a sudden I felt a snap and then a whole mess of wires fell on the ground. Wrap them and keep them away from that hole.

Its pretty easy to do. Lay on your back and look up into the rear corner on each side of the bumper. You will see a dirt covered grey clip type object with a buch of wires coming out each side. Put some safety glasses on, use a small screwdriver to lift the locking tab, and pull apart. The new harness has a fitting that now goes between the two halves of the pulled apart original. (the glasses are to keep the dirt out of your eyes, believe me you will need them). The original wire harness clip was a bit difficult to pull apart, and definately watch out for the spare tire hole. I had the wires all nicely wire-tied to my hitch and then when I went to drop the spare it was like DOH!

I'd also recommend coating the connector with dielectric grease to help prevent corrosion. If you can't find this grease just use some petroleum jelly (Vasoline) it's basically the same thing.

so basically what you all are saying is this is a pretty simple thing. i don't mind wrenching or experimenting but i hate electrical. it seems everytime i mess with it, aside from changing a bulb or battery, i end up all screwed up!!

Like they said, the most difficult part is getting the existing wiring loose from the plug ( you just cannot get a good grip on it). Just keep pulling and it will come out. Plugging in the new one is much easier. Good luck and it will work fine. Mine did.
