I am seriously considering buying a PV muffler for my truck. I am just unsure as to if it is worth it. Also, will it be ok to have it welded into the stock piping? Stock pipes are 2"(not sure if O.D. or I.D.) and the muffler is 2.5".

I have the PV2 on my VX. It is welded on to the factory exhaust using reducers. It is louder than the first version, so loud I had the exhaust shop weld on a plain old 2" tailpipe in place if my stock 3" tip. Made a tremendous difference in noise reduction without sacrificing the mellow tone. It does sound awsome. I noticed a bit more throttle response and definately increased my MPG by about 2 miles per gallon mainly noticeable on the highway. (probably because I got my foot in it all the time around town)

Mine is still in the box in my office, I haven't had the time to have it installed (also known as: financial manager has not yet approved that expendature <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />).
I will say, the construction on it is truly bombproof. It's small, the welds look nice, and the material is very heavy duty. It should last a long, long time.
I'll update this post if I get it put on in the next couple weeks.

I also have the PV2 on my VX. It is welded on to the factory exhaust with about 12'' of added pipe. The sound was a little loud till I added a resonator tip last week. Now it's real mellow. The positive side is the 5 mpg I piked up on the road trips. I get 20-22 mpg depending on if I'm running my 31'' MTs or my 30'' ATs. Great pick-up. I also dropped a K&N filter in.

Hopefully, I'll have mine dusted off and installed next week. OEM pipes will work with the xtra pipe as mentioned above. If replacing pipes before(cat flange)/after muffer, IIRC, vendor recomends 2.25" pipes which I will most likely use.
Good to hear that a resonator will melow the sound a bit without a hit on power or mpg. I guess I'll play it by ear when I have mine installed.

What diameter piping did you use for the extra pipeing? I'm glad to hear that there is an increase in MPG. I'm going to think about it some more and hopefully get more replies and probably order a muffler soon.

Well I ordered the muffler last night. I have a question for those that have had the muffler installed. What diameter piping did you use for the filler pipe? Also do you recall if that is inside diameter or outside diameter?
Thanks
