I need to replace the valve cover gaskets on my 3.0. So while I have it all apart, I want to replace the hidden PCV valve. I had an idea to put it in the driver's side cover for easier replacement when the time comes again. Will this work? Or can I put a longer hose coming off the Passenger side cover and install the PCV valve in the hose out from under the plenum? Does the valve have to be straight up and down to function properly or can it be on it's side? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />Is it possible to switch the valve covers from one side to the other? If so,I'd do that and go with the longer hose!Hopefully, someone that knows the v6 better than me will chime in!Good Luck! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Both covers have hoses coming from them to the intake tube. Passenger side has the PCV valve and the Driver's side is just a hose. I just want to swap the hoses not the covers.

Plus, if he switched covers, he would have a harder time adding oil. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

hey redyota,
how hard is it to replace the valve cover gaskets. I have leaks from both covers on my 3.0. Thanks
Sid

I've had good luck just cleaning the valve, but when you take it out on higher mileage rigs, the grommet in the cover will hassle you (brittle). With long needle nose pliers, it can be done with a little patience.
I wouldn't change sides on the valve, but hey, give it a try & report back <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

Sid, you can't get to the bolts on the pass cover, nor slide the cover out from under the plenum, without remvoing the plenum, makes tuff work outta a simple task.

Sid,
To get the valve covers off, you have to take the plenum off. I have had all the required parts for this job since April 2002! I can't put it off any more. This is going to happen this weekend.
