Has anyone done Zebart or other rust control treatment to their older Troopers? What were your experiences? Is it any good?
I know you can do this yourself but I don't have the time...
Thanks,
Kevin Wolford

Way back in the late 70's early 80's when that was the thing to do. No current experience with any aftermarket undercoaters in the last 15 years. Personally don't think it is worth it anymore with the materials that are being used. Besides makes one heck of a mess to work on anything under there.

Zebart is crooked . My mom had a Mazda Navajo that had the Zebart rust protection since it was new. It still rusted out despite her washing it. They fixed it once after a big argument. Right before my parents sold it, they wanted to get some of the seam rust fixed, but Zebart had lost all records of the truck...WTF ?! In the long run, there really was no benefit to having the Zebart rust protection.
Oh yeah, I bought an '84 Dodge D50 that had Zebart too. I lifted the cab right off the frame without even having to unbolt it .

I had an 82 escort GT that had been originally bought in Illinois... it had that injected ziebart treatment and the parts that were injected didn't seem to have much rust. The wheel wells were another story - i noticed one day while replacing the rear brakes that I could not only see, but reach in and touch the passenger side rear speaker's magnet through a big rust crack in the fender well.
I have to assume that when they did the injecting thing they also did the standard undercoating thing, so the synopsis would be injection worked, undercoating kinda didn't work. at least not for 15+ years.
I had no idea what ziebart or even "rustproofing" were, being from the west coast.. had to ask someone "why are there all of these little yellow plugs in the door jams that say ziebart??"
