Is there any law limiting the San Gabriel Canyon OHV area to 4x4 vehicles? I visited the area on a Sunday and the ranger said that my 2wd Axiom was not allowed to go into the OHV area. She also stated that it was due to conservation efforts as an endangered species lives in the area. Sounds like a story to me! I checked the forestry sites and they do not mention "no 2wd trucks or suvs" in any of the documentation. The only mention of drive type is when they mention the Green, and Red stickers, and on highway registered vehicles. All 4x4 vehicles need a green sticker or current registration. Any thoughs? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

I think the reason you were turned away is because they only allow a certain number of vehicles in. Once they "fill up" so to speak they begin turning people away. I have seen 2WD vehicles in there, however I wouldn't reccommend it. It is fun to watch all the crazy's fling mud though so I can understand you wanting to check it out.
