Mine broke last weekend. I was hoping the cable had just come loose but, nope, it broke about 1/4" back from the handle. I dont' think it can be spliced, at least not at that spot. Has anyone ever repaired/replaced the cable on a 1st Gen? I removed the handle assembly but can't get the end of the old cable out. Everythings seems to be welded or frozen in place.

Thanks in advance.

Mine just broke too but down near the floor. You will have to take out the whole front cable. I have not found one for mine yet, and I don't want to buy a new one.

I've heard of folks taking the cable and housing to a motor cycle repair shop and having a new cable made with the proper end fittings. Might be worth a try.
