1991 4Runner, the tube that atatches to the block for the oil dip stick is really loose to the point it will pull out.
My ideas are:

1. tap it lightly with a hammer to see if it will seat.

2. pull it out, flare the end a little bit, put some hi-temp gasket sealer on it and then tap it lightly with the hammer to see if it will seat.

3. purchase a new one and.... tap it in lightly (you get the idea)

anyone have any experience with this problem?

It's supposed to have a tab wrapped around it near the top, that bolts to the top rear PS pump bracket where it bolts to the block.

I vote for #2 as this is the route I went. Pull it out and clean it up really good, work something like a thick shafted screw driver or small socket or whatever to work the tube into shape. Put a LIGHT coating of sealer on it and tap it home. It will stop when its supposed to (collar). ~Darin <img border="0" alt="[Baby]" title="" src="graemlins/baby.gif" />
