i have a spare tranny for a 2.6. is there anything i can look for or check to see if is ok before i swap it into my trooper

Remove the fill plug or shifter hole and sniff for gear oil. smile

You can remove the nose cone without too much trouble and inspect it. It is an utter PITA to completely disassemble the thing, though. The nose cone comes off with just several bolts, though.

If you can stick a shifter in it and it shifts OK, and the input shaft has no wobble, it should be fine.
