Getting the Wheeling Fever
My engine has about 12000 miles on it now. Rebuilt block, AMC head. I just read a post that said to re-torque the head bolts and set the valves every 12 to 15000 miles. Is this correct? If it is, do I tighten the head bolts at running temp or cold? I believe the valves get set cold.

I've never read anything pertaining to re-torquing the head. The factory manual does not call for it. Also some gaskets are not supposed to be re-torqued, like the Fel-Pro Perma-Torque.

For what it is worth, some engines do require a re-torque, just not the 2.6.

As far as valves, every 10-15K is crucial.

Good Luck,
Michael
