Didn't think I'd need one....tried the ole' fill it with grease and beat a bolt through method (archaic hydraulic theory), well, it would've worked had the bearing not just been completely FUBAR'd. I ended up just getting grease pushing through the balls in the bearing, and popping off the little plastic piece which makes it a contained unit. Sucks for me.....now on to the need...
I went up to Autozone and borrowed a pilot bearing puller....it's OD is too large and it will not insert through the ID of the Toy pilot bearing. Thought about modifying it to work (ie: Grinding it down to correct profile), but I thought I'd ask here first if there's any easier solution. Anyone know of another way to pull a pilot bearing??? I also borrowed a slide hammer from Autozone....I suppose I could shop around a little more for a smaller profile puller, any advice???
Many Thanks! Max

I removed mine by having my son pack SEX WAX(for surfboards)and insert a bolt that would fit perfect and pecking the bolt with a hammer.Pilot bearing comes out easy and clean. No mess and it smells good.

NM....I got it. Ended up just using one prong from the puller, attached to the slide hammer....then I jammed a flathead into the remaining gap, causing the one tooth of the puller to grab the side of the bearing. One good smack of the slide hammer and out she came....no sweat. Wish I would've thought of that earlier....would've saved me about two hours.

For future reference, a variation on the hydraulic method that works well is packing small pieces of wet paper in thru the hole until it pops out. Just find a piece of rod or someting (I used a 3/8" extension) that fits in the hole to mash the pieces in.

If all else fails, bust out the inner race, by punching the bearings out, and then use a die grinder with carbide bit to section the outer race. You will only have to cut one groove in the outer race. Stop the cut just before you get to the fly wheel. Then take a cold chisel, and wack the outside corner of the outer race. The whole thing should come out in two pieces. Ive done this on a few bad bearings when the grease trick didn't work.
