I have a 89k mile 2nd gen Rodeo with the 4l30 auto tranny.

Lately (for about a month and a half)

It has been making a kind of gurgiling/boiling/bubbling sound every once in a while. Kind of like sucking the last of a drink through a straw. This sound has been coming from under my gear selecter(so I figure tranny) and lasts 2-3 seconds.

It seems to only do it when still cold because I have yet to notice it on longer drives. It also only seems to happen at slow speeds or maybe while slowing down.

These last 2 points of when it happens maybe off though because I may only notice it at certain times.

Also in other problem 'under the gear selector' is a random click sound also around vehicle startup. It sounds kind of like the switch that clicks when you touch the brakes while in park, but slightly louder. It clicks every once in a while after I have started the car and am driving around. I only seem to notice it when stopped or starting from a stop, but again this might be coincidence.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

People i work with always tell people to try that Lucas tranny stabilizer fluid. I dumped it in my truck and it seems to shift nicer, i have the 4l30 as well, but in a 92 rodeo. if the tranny filter hasnt been changed, id change it, add new fluid then add the lucas tranny fluid additive. Not sure about the clicking sound though.

92 Rodeo, 3.1 TB crank, custom bumpstop spacers, DOR shackles, Flipped ball joints, D44 Rear, 4.56s and new magnaflow cat and dynomax ultraflow muffler Since been replaced by a 2 door Explorer on 31's shackles, cranked torsion bars and full exhaust

I too had that exact sloshing sound only when cold. My mechanic had a listen and told me that the noise was simply coolant flow through my heater core(before pressure had built up). A second opinion said the same. This was 2 years ago and I have had no problems. Hope this helps??

Me too ... Randomly on a cold startup I have heard the gurgiling/boiling/bubbling sound. I do think it is the heater burping <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />.
