for the life of me i can't find the 11th water pump bolt!!! i've got one gold bolt and 9 regular bolts. i know the answer to this is probally no, but by chance is the idler pulley one of the waterpump bolts?

despite my numerous obstacles, the hardest part so far has been to get the freakin water pump gasket off. i'm still working on it.

next ?: my rtv says it fully cures in 24 hours. do i have to not drive it for 24 hours or can i start driving after x hours?

well, back to that gasket. thanks, taro

Taro,
The idler pump is not one of the water pump bolts.

IIRC, the 11th bolt you are talking about is installed just to the right of the long gold bolt. See this pic:

bolt goes here

It remains empty until the fan pulley assembly is installed.

RE gaskets: Methylene chloride is your friend ... Get some NAPA gasket remover and apply it with a cotton swab. Use a copper scraper so you don't gouge the aluminum. To make a copper scraper, get a 5" section of 1/2" copper tubing. Press it in a vise or hammer on a clean, flat surface until one end is flattened. File the flat end until it resembles a chisel or scraper.

Ed, i can't thank you enough. i would've been looking for that bolt all night. i finally got the gasket off. i'd say it took me just as long to get it off as it did to get to it. now i have to clean off all of the residue from the gasket cleaner and bits of the gasket that is everywhere. still having fun though. taro
