2,

PBR/Axxis MetalMasters ($34/set) in the front (ALOT of guys here use thes, nuttin' but good stuff so I hear) and ENDURO ($30/set) for the rear drums.
hadnt heard of the ENDURO's but Mike at IRP was great to deal with so I went with their suggestion on the rear shoes.

They also carry Godridge stainless steel brake lines and I'll be geting some from them after the holidays.

I have used PBR/Axxis pads in my VW Scirocco that I used to autocross. Those pads are also pretty good. I never had any problems with them as far as I can remember.

You'll find most Brembo rotors are slotted and cross-drilled for high performance driving(racing). Unless you're going to be hauling-ass and stopping in the nick of time, you don't have to worry about that.

Brembo slotted/cross-drilled discs tend to wear down a little sooner because of the less material that is has compare to OEM. They dissappate heat quicker thus less brake fade.

I would recommend looking into Repco Metalmasters or Mintex brake pads to go along with your new rotors.

Hope this helps a little.

i have the opposite experience.

before my cross drilled brembos, the oem style would warp about 8-10 months. then they would be "turned" and another 8-10 months would go by before warping again.

finally, when the rotors were too thin to be turned, i splurged on a set of the bremo cross drilled suckers.

that was over 4 years now. still havent had anyu "warping" issues. ran through 2 sets of pads now. this current set of pads are probably starting to glaze over so the pads will be replaced as well as the brembos getting the surface re-sanded to get the glazing off too.

only issues with the brembos is when you dip them into mud, the mud has to be washed off quickly or when they dry up, the mud will expand and start making noises and scratches.

as soon as the rotors on my STi goes, cross drilled brembos will go on them too. to match the brembo calipers... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

having a hard time finding the Mintex brand disc pads in Houston. Any thoughts on the ceremic pads from Akebono?

Wheeler
I've got a 1996 2WD 4Runner with 15" wheels originally. Since then I've installed 17" wheels.

I am interested in upgrading to an aftermarket kit replacement for the 16" wheel for better stopping power.

Does anybody have any experience with an aftermarket kit, and has any body replaced the 15" brakes with the 16"?

I would expect the kit would include rotors, calipers, and pads. Anything else?

Does anyone know or recommend any aftermarket kits? Thanks.
