Broke a left rear leaf on a 1997 tacoma 4x4. Will a set off a 2002 tacoma work under this truck? Thanks, Scott. --------------------------------------------------------- 1997 t-100 sr5,rs5000,31" buckshots

I believe the 95.5 to 97 Tacomas used shorter leaf packs and that the 98 and newer Tacoma leaf packs won't fit. Could be wrong about that, though. I also remember reading a few posts on tacomaterritory.com that the 95 and older, non-Tacoma 4x4 leaf packs are a perfect fit for the 95.5 to 97 Tacoma 4x4s, but I don't know if they provide lift or retain the stock ride height.

Hope this helps.

the 95.5 - 97 tacos are very bad for breaking the center leaf on the rear

you can either spend the bux on the stock springs or get a lift <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Later Taco spring will not work without a new front hanger. However, 90-95 truck spring will work. They will also give you about 1.5" of lift, so the front would definately need some lift as well.

I broke a leaf in my 87 toy, what a PIA to replace those suckers.
It may not be worth using poly. bushings. I stayed with the rubber ones.

good luck

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I read in this forum that the 1996 non TRD 4X4 Tacoma pickups had fewer leafs than the newer TRD Tacoma pickups. I checked out a TRD Tacoma pickup in the parking lot and it appeared to have the same number and thickness leafs, not sure about the length. I bought my 1996 4X4 XCab used so I do not no its history. What does the X on the tailgate mean? Does it simply mean that it is an extended cab XCab? Bottom line is I do not know if I have the better leaf spring setup or not?
