I'm contemplating getting 16x8 wheels and 285's and staying with the stock a-arms or getting factory 16x7's with 285's and ATS (Inland) a-arms.
What backspacing should I get with the 16x8's to avoid rubbing the factory a-arm and/or fender?
Here is what I have for suspension: front: OME 882's, OME HD shocks, one trim packer
rear: OME HD coils and shocks
I also have an ARB Prado bar, Warn M8000, and Trailcarnage skidplates holding that front end down with the 882's.
Opinions? 16x8's and stock a-arms or 16x7 factory and Inland a-arms

4.25 or 4" would be optimal.
I rub substantially more with 8" wheels than I did with the OEM 7's with 285's. You'll have to grind down the pinch weld/body seams behind the plastic fender liner a bit in front. I don't think there's any way around it.
I gained quite a bit more room next to the upper A-arm, so that is no longer an issue.

So, 4" would tuck the wheels farther in the wheelwells? Just trying to make sure b/c I'm not after that "skateboard" look.

Thanks!
4" would push the wheels out further. I basically have 4.25" in the front with those spacers, and it is just a fraction away from the calipers.

No, I meant 4" is further out than 4 9/16". The smaller the number, the further out your wheel is.

Hey Darren I was wondering which backspacing you ultimately went with. So you ended up with 4 9/16" minus a 1/4" spacer?

Yes, that's correct. It was a custom spacer Andy (Red Chili) over here in Aurora designed and has worked for him.

Okay, very good. Not sure if you saw this picture, but here is how mine fit under the flares: Looks a lot better than with the 7" wheels filling out that area. They sit just a fraction outside of them. I'm not sure what type of flares you have, but anything smaller than the "limited" ones, they will definitely stick out further than the flare.
