Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have spent at least an hour trying to locate the radiator petcock on my '90 Trooper w/2.8 V6, and I can't locate it. First of all, there is almost no possible way to see or reach to the sides of the radiator at the bottom. Can anyone help? I need to put a new thermostat in and change coolant

get in front of the vehicle, facing the radiator. over on YOUR left (passenger side) of radiator, reach down and fumble around the lower corner of the radiator with your right hand. it is near the corner, just a little bit up from the bottom, and faces towards the rear of the vehicle. you'll find it. be careful if it's hot that you don't burn yourself.

Don't try to get it from the bottom, you WILL get coolant in your eye no matter what you do. it's got supernatural powers with that

Roll Me Over
Mine doesn't have the standard "winged" petcock, but rather a bolt. Mine is brass and fits tight against the radiator.

Thanks guys, I'm going to renew the search and rescue mission today. Boy, if it is a bolt rather than a petcock it will be an absolute nightmare to get a wrench on.

Now I really do feel stupid. It was right there under my nose the whole time. Just didn't look like any petcock that I've ever seen. The crap that poured out was so rusty, it looked like mud. I'm guessing the previous owner was not big on maintenance. Thanks for the help.

I couldn't find mine either, so I just removed the lower radiator hose.. problem solved!

This just BEGS for a radiator flush -- check the parts store near you for one of Prestone's kits...
