Yup, the "cheaters" class is all very specially built Jeeps that are optimized for light weight, stiff suspensions, and axles just strong enough for gripping the ice. They all have full roll cages. Rollovers aren't uncommon.

In the lower classes, I compete against any SUV's you see on the road. There's plenty of Jeeps, but a bunch of Exploders, pickups, Amigos, Blazers, etc. Just normal vehicles. It's pretty much the same in studs, although it's mostly Jeeps.

They could have at least shown 30 seconds of the day's worth of footage that they took that day of other classes.

did you use the lockers?

No. I race open/open. Ice racing is actually one of the primary reasons why I made sure I had selectable lockers front and rear. It's just a controlled skid around the whole track, so open/open is more controllable.

I couldn't believe the way Travel setup that program. I wanted to see more furniture on skiis and less ice racing. Who are they trying to kid??? recliner skiing is rising in popularity faster than any other sport right now, but they only gave it 20 minute out of a 60 minute program. Why would they waste program time showing ice racing???

*end sarcasm*

Actually, I would have liked to see more of the ice racing... it looked pretty crazy. I too saw your rig for a few seconds in the background. I'll have to check out the video clip

And continuing with that same reasoning...

So I was thinkin'... I know they took a lot of footage of the other classes of ice racing the rest of that weekend. But because they didn't even acknowledge the existence of those classes (studs and bare rubber), it would seem like they're saving those up for an Episode # 2 with some more ice races from around the nation. I've heard of races in New York and Alaska, so there's certainly others around that they might find. Maybe, just maybe....

Body Damage is Cool
What I don't understand is how any of this relates to travel. The beauty of the Bare Rubber class is that you take your daily driver/road trip vehicle to the lake and race it as is. Seems to me that the TRAVEL channel would want to focus on the travel aspect of the races.

I did not see the shows so I don't realy know what they showed. I'm making assumptions based on the comments here and a couple of other boards.

I think they're trying to show what kinds of cool stuff happens all around the world. It may or may not be a travel destination, but it should allow you to learn about different places and what kinds of crazy things people do there.

I don't understand why they put furniture ski races on an ICE racing show instead of some wierd SKI races show. There's got to be a lot of wierd races and events on SKIS to keep that separate.
