Need a Spot
I just tried out some 33x12.5's on my truck since I put in the 2" body lift, they rub! Just a little on the bottom edge of the fender very inside, but this is all at ride hight, a little compression and they're going to really contact. I think they would fit if I had more backspacing, these used wheels I picked up for $10/ea have only about 3". I don't see a good way to trim this without loosing the rolled edge on the fender bottom. I think I'll have to take a 5 lb spedge to it and pound it back.
What do you figure? and no I don't want to find different wheels, these look cool sticking way out, fender flares here I come!!

Body Damage is Cool
A body lift raises the body but doesn't make the wheel wells any bigger. You will have to makes some cuts and use a BFH to make them work right. You can always get some fender flares (not extend-a-fender mind you) to fix what you mess up. smile

Its possible to do it. This is a 2wd 86 with 33x12.5's...

What he said. Spend $0 and solve the problem with cutting and hammering. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes, wheel backspacing makes a big difference. With 4.75" on 15x8s, you'll be fine with 1" body lift. Go to 3.5" or less and you'll need 2" inches of lift. Reason being the more wheel (and tire) sticking out from the body swing a wider arc and makes it more likely to rub. Flatten the standing seam at the firewall, trim back the plastic wheel well liner, trim/bend back anything that rubs:

Fender mods.

exactly. The fronts must be kept "tucked in" as far as possible to minimize rubbing. This very advice has been echoed before. Thanks 4crawler for the patience to cover it again.
