I am surprised that nothing but Yota stuff came up when I searched, but... My 98 Trooper is coming up for its 60k service very soon. I started shopping around for prices. Yikes!! Local Isuzu dealer quoted $700+ <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> and rattled off a zillion things they "do". My question is, what really needs to be done at this interval? The truck is mostly used for commuting and some lite 4x. Dealer says that the timing belt isn't do until 75k, so what is so blasted expensive in the 60k service??? Your imput is appreciated.

well, i cannot really answer your question myself. however, i had a new toyota once and was in the same situation with the service. the dealer gave me a list of the essentials that needed to be done in order to keep the warranty in effect, then i had them done elswhere. perhaps your dealer can do the same for you?

There should be a list in the owners manual that tells you what should be done at each service interval. It is under the maintanence section of the book.

I just spoke with my local dealership about two months ago about 60K mile service. I left with my head reeling from sticker shop... closer to $1000.
I can check my service manual at lunch today but I remember the timing belt being due at 60K (however the shop manager said that since the 3.5l is not an intereference engine a broken timing belt would mostly just leave you stranded.

Change timing belt The biggest portion...approx $500
Change all fluids and filters, oil, air, Transmission, transaxle, differentials, radiator etc.
Repack bearings,
Inspect everything..spark plugs & wires, brakes, etc
As the shop manager read through the list nearly everything I could (or was willing to)do myself except the timing belt and tensioner. saving nearly $500 in the process.

Is the 3.2L an interference engine?
