Need a Spot
Hello, new to the board, hope this rings a bell with someone. I have an 89 22re 5-speed. It bogs heavily for a few seconds then wakes up. At first, it was only on damp or rainy days, now its everyday. I've replaced common tune-up parts including cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter. It lays down on power, not really a dead miss. No check engine light or codes, so I'm leaning more to something simple overlooked. Thanks for your time.

Hmmm sounds electrical, make sure water hasn't gotten to your computer. I'd start by getting under the hood while it's doing it's missing thing and wiggle all the wires you can get your hands on. Sounds stupid but it uncovers lots of over looked problems. Check for vacuum leaks while you're in there, just in case

Also might try cleaning the throttle plate and intake with sensor safe carb cleaner and a (old) toothbrush. If this doesn't help, also could be the egr valve which can be removed relatively easily and cleaned out.

Body Damage is Cool
A usefull diagnostic tool for this sort of condition is a dark and damp night. With no lights on, open the hood and start the engine. Then just look at it. Give yourself a few minutes for your eyes to adjust. Many times you will then find a pronounced electrical arcing that was not visible in daylight.
