I got around to yanking the rear diff tonight and found that the ring gear was chipped. Glad it broke where it did and not at the Jambo. I would have gotten the club cowbell again:D As a matter of experience, what gears do you all recommend. I am getting a e-locker axle and want to get the 8" V6 4:88's. Who has the best prices on them and the best brand gearsets as well. Thanks Danny

How bad is it chipped? If it is only on the outside, or one tooth you can grind it off. You need to make sure there is no harsh edges that can start a crack into the gear.
It will keep it running for a while untill you get the E locker. I have ran one for a while that I ground off a chip that I acidently put in it on the workbench.

Way too bad to fix <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="images/icons/blush.gif" /> Like about 5 teeth are gone. I may have used the term chipped a bit too loosely. Let me clarify this, it is trashed. Definately needs to be replaced. Danny

Been impressed with Randy's Ring and Pinion on prices and service. They can sell the kit or do the whole job. They use Yukon and Precision gears I think. They sold me my 5.29s and the kit, and I had a local shop do the setup because I never had.
