It is me again !! I have 99 Montero and always asking stupid questions !!! I have a stereo interfreence when acceleration. So, I plan to connect the power wire direct to the battery to prevent such problem. I also want to install a TFT montior too. But, I can not find any hole on the firewall between driving room and engine room. Do I miss somewhere ? Or, I should drill a hole by myself ? Thanks all you helps as usual.

Did you swap the OEM stereo out? Is there any other equipment in your vehicle? Are you talking about running a power wire for the stereo directly to the battery????
Give me some more and maybe I can help?

THANKS FOR YOUR ASKING :
Here is my plan :
First I don't have the stock Stereo. I bought the preowned car with poor aftermarket stereo. So, I remaove the poor stereo and installed a DVD player. But the problem is it had interference noise problem when accelaration. Now I want to install a TFT monitor "now". I also plan to install a CB radio on dash board too and also 2 150w fog lights later. So, I need to find the route from the engine room to the driving room to connect the battery directly for tft monitor and also for other equipment in the near future. Thank you.

If you are talking about a direct connection to the battery for a stereo on the pos. side, don't do it... if you are talking about grounding directly to the battery I wouldn't recommend that either as grounds are supposed to be 12" or less. I would put money that the problem is with your ground and not your pos. wire. What exactly are you grounded to right now? Was the CD player installed with a wiring harness, or a chop n' splice method?

Thanks JonS: I connect the ground wire on the screw which support the radio unit. And the ground wire is over 12". My dvd player comes with wiring harness but it is not same as the Mitsubishi stock connector. So, I strip the stock wires to connect the dvd harness. Can you recommend me what will be good power source for the tft monitor. This is my problem now. Can I connect through cigarette lighter directly ? The monitor instruction ask me to do a pure power source with filter for the monitor. This is why I try to connect to the battery directly.
By the way, I will also install CB radio and fog lights too later. So, is there any hole n the firewall ? I think if I install these equipment and I need to connect to the battery dirrectly right ?
Thanks for your patience.

Reading your post with montazuma , thought i would add my two cents ,on your radio interferiance problem . There is a small inexpencive device called ( an R.F.I. Choke) available cheaply at radio shack . It is a cardon coil with anopening .pass your wires thru it several times and it will arrest ignition noise .Also there is no substitue for a chassis ground . some internal screw /nuts &bolts are not groundedto the frame ,GOOD LUCK .

Good info above. I've been able to run additional wires through the fire wall by going along existing wires that pass through a rubber boot/grommet on the fire wall.

Thank you all !!!
I know the RFI choke and will get one soon. However can I connect to cigarette lighter for the TFT monitor power source ? Is it safe to do that ? Thanks again.

Dick Dick, Assuming the power required by that unit is 12vDC and needs less current than what the maximum current the cigarette adapter is rated for, then you should be able too. Also, make absolutely sure you don't accidentally reverse the polarity (do it once & you could be looking at an expensive paperweight instead of a DVD player). HTH, Ray
