Ok, I need to rebuild the frontend on my truck. But its my DD so I cant have it torn apart for long. I ran in to a guy today that will sell me a complete frontend for $75. I was thinking it would be good if I could buy it and run it in my truck while im rebuilding my frontend. That way I can take as long as I need to rebuild mine.

But the frontend he has came out of a 84. I have a 86 with a SAS. I didnt do the SAS (I bought it that way) so I dont know where all the parts on my truck now came from. I have a hy-steer some im good there. The only thing im not sure about are the brakes.

Will the roters on the 84 front work with my 86 calipers? Anything else I should know about? Im going to buy the frontend no matter what. Just for the spare parts. But I need to know if it will all bolt on my truck with no problems.

More than likely you have a 84 or 85 axle in your 86. No 1986s came from the factory with straight axles, and almost everyone uses the straight axle from a 1984 1985 Toyota. As for the brakes go you probably have the same rotors on there. The only way you can use 1986 IFS calipers is to use the FJ 60 or 80 vented rotor, which is another very popular mod for the straight axle. Best way to tell is to pull your tire off and check it out. The only thing I would be concerned about is your front differential. The gearing may or may not be different. If you plan on 4wheeling your truck you should make sure that the diffs. are the same gear ratio (front and rear). You should have no problems swapping in the axle while you rebuild yours. BTW you got a great deal on that axle, they are selling for alot more than that. To save yourself some time and trouble why don't u just rebuild the axle you just bought that way you don't have to do a bunch of work for nothing. Then when you get ready to put the axle you just got in your truck, swap out the diffs. and all is good. You are ready to start rebuilding now. Hope this helps ya.
