Getting the Wheeling Fever
I found an '83 Mitsu pickup for parts that has a 2.0L (carb is good, but 1 rocker broke) and I was thinking of swapping the flywheel and starter into my son's '87 Montero with 2.6L 5 speed. Are they workable or is it still screwed time? (Will the alternators swap? The Montero one does weird whiney noises)

Build your truck the head men say, but it must be built in such a way...

Roll Me Over
The flywheel won't interchange.

I'm not positive about the alternator, but I'd guess no. I think this because I swapped an '85 alternator into my truck and it would drain the battery when the truck wasn't running. It would charge fine, and I know it worked fine in the truck it came out of, but it just didn't work with my '88 wiring. You're probably better off with a newer alternator anyways <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />.

No. I think w.0 has assymetric bolt pattern on crankshaft flange like 2.0, and 2.6 is equal bolt pattern.
