Lost my keys, have to reprogram a new remote #376254 01/08/04 02:20 PM

I lost my keys New Years eve! I called the dealer for a replacement keyless entry fob and they told me 170 bucks! I then purchased one on ebay for $25 shipped to my door.

My question is does anyone know how to program one on an 01 4Runner? It is just the Toyota keyless entry no chip in the key and no alarm. In my old VW you just had to turn the car on and off and press a button in an awkward pattern to pair the devices. I am sure that the dealer would do it for me but I was curious.

Thanks,

I have a factory keyless entry and no alarm. My key fob is the one with three buttons lock, unlock, and tailgate window with the little red panic button on the back.

I think the dealer will do it for free but I was hoping I could do it.

guys,

the write up i wrote that ed referred to only works with rs3000 equipped vehicles. it wont work with rs3200s. try searching the terms "rs32000 programming" or just "rs3200" and hopefully you;ll find the appropriate info.

try this,
Key-Fob Programming Instructions

1. Make sure the vehicle is in the following conditions--
_ a. The key is NOT inserted in the ignition switch.
_ b. Drivers door is open (all other doors are closed)
c. The Drivers door is UNLOCKED.

2. Insert the key into the ignition switch, then pull it out.

3. Press the Door lock switch on the Drivers door from Lock to Unlock 5 times.
Like this: Lock, Unlock = 1

4. Close the Drivers door and open it.

5. Repeat step 3

6. Insert the key into ignition switch and turn 2 times to the "run"
position and then back, repeat.

7. Pull the key out of the ignition switch, the ECU should verify the above
completed steps by locking and unlocking the door locks twice. (if not
repeat the above 1-6 sequence)

8. Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the remote together for at least
1/2 second. Then press either button and hold for more than 1 second and
release.

9. If steps are done correctly the ECU will "Lock" and "Unlock" the doors
once to confirm. **NOTE**: If you want to program more than one remote you
must do it at this point by repeating step 8 with another remote. (if
nothing happens then repeat ALL 8 steps)

10. Close the Drivers door and test all remotes.

hope that helps

If Rick S instructions don't work, I would call the Fujistu Ten fax back info line and see if they can fax you a manual

Thanks RickS I got my fob in the mail today and it even included the same instructions you posted. What a great ebay purchase! 170 from the dealer or 25 delivered to my house.

I can easily reccommend carstuffetc@comcast.net if you need a replacement 01 4runner key fob.

the auction I won

Thanks to everyone!
