This weird problem is on a 1988 Trooper, fuel pump was replaced with a aftermarket 3 months ago. Every thing was running fine until late friday. The truck stalled as I was coasting to a red light. It would not start right away. The only way to start it was to hammer the accelerator until it RPMs were beyond 3000. This is now the only way she will start. I am looking for ideas of where to start.

Just a shot in the dark but I've had a similar problem on vehicles with a clogged fuel filter.

Opps missed some info, replaced the filter at the same time the fuel pump was replaced.

The problem was found to be the Engine Relay inside the fuse box. I swapped the AC relay with the Engine Relay and she started up as per normal. Now off to the dealer to get the real part.

me and my girlfriend had same problem with her 99 Rodeo that we just bought recently. the dealer that sold us the Rodeo fixed it at no charge to us and it was fuel pressure regulator. the truck is running like a champ now. just my $0.02.
