Or more like "what's the beef" may I ask between 4x4wire Toy Forums and that "Other Toy Site"?

Depends on which toy site you are refering to my dear Sherri. In comparison to some, its an itelluctal level thing. With some others its a jealousy thing when us guys pull them out to compare sizes...and others...well are there others? lol Hope this didnt come across as offensive...just wanted to let ya know we were listening.

Well, there's another board out there and the natives are getting restless in a weird, almost in a mentally ill sort of way. It's edgy kind of like Pirate4x4, but with a much lower IQ and a very bad hangover. Pirate is fun, this place isn't. And surprisingly, they don't talk about 4x4 very much like they used to.

It's unmoderated. In fact, no one's seen the moderator in about 2 years. When the board goes down, it stays offline for a month at a time until someone bothers to email the sysop.

It used to be nice, but now it's kind of cruddy.

It's strange in a twilight zone kind of way. Members have strange luck, like getting zapped by viruses every few days, being subscribed to extreme porn sites, getting spammed to death, and so on. At this point, no one can use their real email address because of the headaches.

It's a situation where you take one step forward and two steps back.

It's all heat and no light.

It's basically not fun.

Greg

Juvenile might be the word... well, juvenile with malice is more like it.

Kind of like being the guest of dishonor at a KKK rally....

Which "Other Toy Site"? I believe Darin and Greg are referring to T4x4Pickup, but I think you might be referring to another site?

The fellows who started that site don't like us or me. I am a nazi, a censor, a fascist, pick your nasty word du jour - I've heard it all. One of the founders spent a lot of time using our forum PM system, userlist, and email to bash me personally and to harvest readers. Also one of our staffers/mods quit in a huff and railed against us on their site (and has subsequently been banned there AFAIK). We don't bash other sites here, we don't bash their people, their culture - so when other sites bash us (which I understand is quite common), you gotsta wonder about them.

We also absolutely forbid board wars. Anyone who is "loyal" to or prefers either/any board is always welcome here unconditionally. Hopefully that has come across in the way we manage this place, and is obvious by our Staff's complete lack of bashing anyone/any site.

Warning: If anyone tries to stoke a board war, the post will be deleted and you will likely be banned!

Sherri, your topic is very valid and worthy of discussion, we just will not let it descend to the depths we see on other boards. I hope that I have answered your question.

OK, well i guess I have to be more specific to make sure we are all talking about the same site. What prompted me to ask this is when we had that "picture finder" thread and Yotatech's banner was given as the picture response to a rather derrogatory word.

Eric Clayton has a big beef with them since he has been banned there. I have asked Clayton to bury it here, no need to keep picking at the scab.

And Sherri that is the site I was referring to above.

Wasn't Clayton banned here at one point?

4x4Wire for life. (And I don't even currently own a Toyota)

That's pretty well said, information is free, and yes every board has it's share of "others" that like to bash, but to each hold his own opinion I think. My opinion, if you a site that charges to view posts, , the world ain't yours and info is supposed to always be free, especially when you can get it for free from any dealer (Joe can I say that or is that a no-no?).

Agreed. I think that there are USERS here who have a beef with other sites (*cough*EClayton*cough*) but the staff here doesn't have a problem with anyone. We are very comfortable with what we are doing and the world is big enough for more than one 4x4 forum. Lots of people are on more than one BBS anyway...
