Im trying to remove my PCV valve and screwed up the plastic grommet and figure I might as well remove the upper intake now. I've found the four long bolts on top, four on the driver's side and the two holding the EGR/bracket onto teh side. Those were nuts mounted on studs, how can I get the brackets off those? Are there any more bolts/nuts because the stupid thing still won't budge. Oh yeah, throwing Code 22, oil in the intake, idles fine, stumbles a bit, then stays good about 2500+ in the revs. I need some ideas. The motor was rebuilt 25K ago as well. I really need some help here to get this back to normal.

So you remove all the 4 long bolts holding the top part, now there are 4 more (two nuts and two small bolts) holding the other side down. You can see it, its located under the bracket that holds the throtle cable, remove that and you'll get to the bolt. then theres another on the same side, you'll see them. Once you do that, or even before, remove all the vaccum hoses and fuel injector fuel hose among other various things there. Then remove the EGR vavle, and the ones that hold down the other little vavles, this way you wont break them. Once its all loose, lift the intake straight up, but the front metal pipes are going to hit, so at the same time lift them up too and slowly pull them out of the way, usually towards the front of the truck, and the intake should barely squeeze right out. if any more help let me know. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

While you have the intake off, take the opportunity to relocate the PCV so you can change/check your new valve. I put an elbow in a new grommet and attached a hose to it and got it out from under the intake!

Got any pictures of that? I figure I'll finish this weekend when it warms up a little.

Here you go! After looking at my pictures, I could see that I did not get an elbow, it was a straight NPT(?) thread on one end and a slip on hose end on the other which I cut down. Hope this helps. From what I was told by others when I was doing this, you want to install your pcv in an upright position as you can see in the pics.

Thank you very much for the pics. Its always easier to do with pictures instead of with words. Definitely going to do the PCV change on a regular basis from now on.
