I started a new thread for the longer Sportage struts so we don't fill this one up with off topic posts. See thread "Longer Sportage Struts" started 9-22-04 Longer Sportage Struts

I have the Eibachs with a lift spacer, probably same as what Maraguez has, and I have to say I wouldn't want the lift any higher... At full droop it already seems to put a lot of stress on the suspension and the strut barely fits in there. The CV boot has no room to spare either. Not worth it if you ask me, if you want extreme lift just start workin on a solid axle like Dave did... I mean there's only so much you can expect the stock suspension to do... An alternative that I would love to see would be a longer A-arm kit with beefier springs and separate shocks instead of the strut setup. This would be so nice, it would provide longer travel, more lift, etc. I heard one was in the works but I guess it never got done Fiberglass fenders might be in order for this

I agree, need more lift, go with the straight axle. With the lift I have I worry when I go off road and once I start to stretch in the gullies, the CV's will start to give me trouble. I plan to go with a straight axle as soon as I can. I know a guy in Mexico who installs them so I might go that direction. He installed them on a Tracker, very similar to the Kia and the Tracker went on to win a bunch of competitions.

Let me know if you get a price from the guy and if I could go to the same guy (and what part of Mexico this is).
I'm going to San Felipe on the Baja peninsula this weekend Va a ser bien chido...

shifter, you have the new upper strut mounts, these do exactly the same thing ron is suggesting, only his way is more expensive.

Shifter,
My way is better only if:
a. You need new struts.
b. You need more than 1" longer struts.
c. You don't know how much longer you need.
d. You want adjustable rebound stiffness struts.

Hi Rey,
Actually I'm good for now too since I have spacers in the front for both lift and to lower the strut. I'm just doing the lengthening experiments for other people to use. After I lengthen them and document the process, I will rebuild them at stock or 1/2 inch longer than stock.
To keep on topic, I just found an electric cooling fan that I was going to put on my Isuzu pickup. I was looking to see if it would fit the Sportage and it looks like a go. I might be able to make brackets next week.

Just finished installing my new electic fan have to say I absolutely love it!!
Was very easy to install didnt have to remove the radiator used an adjustable switch thermostat
had a little help from the big guy as far as where to install the switch and yes it has a relay and a fuse also connects to the AC positive so that it comes on when the AC is on...maybe I'll put in a shut off switch later but it is deffinately better then the old fan was

Just joking!
I have to do the timing belt this weekend, figured if I'm pulling all the belts I oughta replace em all too. Then I got to figuring if I gotta pull the fan....
So wish me luck, it goes in in the morning come hell or high water, especially high water!
