Thought I would come back with another idea...

I have a section over at the Aztek Fan Club. It is called the "100 Club" Once a member has reached 100 postings, the forum becomes visible to them. This is a place of general chat. I set the posts at 100 to keep it sort of a private place for the "regulars" Perhaps you could have one of those here...

ALso, there are many areas of topics to let everyone find what they are looking for at a glance.

I am not trying to re-invent your forum, but why not check it out... Maybe you will get an idea!

That black amigo looks awesome.

I do have a quick question: By 'Non Breeder', you mean you're gay? Man, this is why I like this board more than pirates. I doubt anyone would come out with something like that. Just goes to show that this board doesn't have the overall juvenile macho idiot atmosphere. When I own trails, I'll be damned if I let anyone who is more than a tiny part of that board on them.

George-

You are right. Consistancy is an issue and being more consistant would alievate some of the confusion.

It is hard to explain how it works sometimes, but it does not really matter if our actions upset the crew.

To respond to your specific examples, the Valentine's Day thread was way OT. (Again, not flaming) The car video was a) 4 days behind the wave of it washing across the internet and it really had nothing to do with Isuzu 4x4 b) there were some non-friendly comments towards the mods (actually, that was one of the comments that got me to post this thread) The virus thread is one of those things that will come up and quickly fade. Not a lot of discussion happens, it disapears off of the radar. We will get it when we clean up. Jason's x-mas thread...well...it has been a while, but as a stab in the dark it was closed to prevent a rash or prevent setting the precident of allowing such a thread.

Sometimes things just slip through the cracks. As Randii said, we read more than the usual reader, but that does not mean we read every single word. I leave somethings knowing that when Randii or Jim get to it, they will deal with it as they please. Sometimes, it goes the other way. Please do not take this as grumpy moderaters acting at their whims.

Another thing is that sometimes things happen for reasons that are not public. The car video thread was a good example. It disapeared for more reasons than just being OT. It had become inappropriate and added nothing to Isuzu Talk.

Again, consistancy could be better, but from you guys (and gals) I ask you to remember that it is not a personal attack when something is moderated. We do not chase down members to make their lives miserable. Our actions, good or bad, are done with the intention of keeping this place clean and reasonably sane.

Another thing, us mods have discussed bringing back something we used to do. If a thread is moved or closed, then we will try and include a note saying why. Sometimes it happens, but more than often it does not. But, remember, some times the reasons are not to be aired publically. When that is the case, we will let you know.

Another response to a point waaaaay up in this thread. For sale posts are locked or moved by policy. If we leave them open, then they turn into discussion items. Again, this is a decision that was made in order to push things (and their discussion) into the For Sale forum. This also means that any For Sale item needs to be posted in that forum and then you can start a thread here with the proper link.

Finally, let me restate this. If you have ANY questions as to why something was done, ask us. We will talk about it. It makes it better for you to know, than for you to assume that it was done for some nefarious reason.

Thanks,
Michael

Dude, try searching "ZPG" on google. I suspect that's what he was referring to.

Wouldn't matter to me if he was gay (he's not), but 'Non-Breeder' is a bit of a running joke between some of us. As with most jokes, it is based in truth for me: I don't wanna breed (don't wanna share my toys, my dollars, or my time!) but I have several good friends who have kids... to each, their own, but I'll stick to dogs. Personally, this has nothing to so with zero population growth and everything to do with being selfish.

Yup, Randii knows what it is. I actually stole the term from him, but it is used in other places too. I do not want to, nor are planning to ever have children. It's for various reasons, but I can assure you that this was not some sort of coming out for me.

Hmmmm, I just got an interesting education from Google. Apparently either it means I am gay or a llama.

Maybe it is time to find another term.

Talk about a golden opportunity: OFF TOPIC!
(how many chances will I get to tell a moderator that!)

For the record, I'm only doing this to assist you. I do not discriminate against gay llama's. Many of my friends are gay llamas.

Although I have been a member for a while, I don't contribute much other than an occational post here and there.
This topic made me remember about how the attitude of this forum was when I signed on, how the humorous ribbing and teasing the members would give each other gave it a "family feel".
That was when many of the now infrequent or no longer posting "elders" knew each other only through this site.
Then they started having the Isuzu meets at Moab and their bonds got tighter.

I guess the point I'm getting at is over the years I've "seen" the attitude and relationship of members change back and forth (thats based on what I read, regrettably I've never met any of you) as the new come in and the old fade away.

Now, as with then, I enjoy the feel of this site, I respect the knowledge and experience many of you have and appreciate your willingness to share this.

You Moderators usually get noticed when you upset a poster because of something you did that impacted their post. That is sad. You have daily lives to live, work, and enjoy, with that you are doing an outstanding job Moderating. I have never felt threatened, belittled or angry from visiting 4x4wire.
Thanks
