I heard that the Chevy Colorado and the Tacoma are going to be on the same platform. There was a few threads about it on TTORA. If you look at the pics of the Colorado, they are almost identicle even down to the door handles. Anyone else have further info on this?
I don't have any info on this, but you're probably right. The plant where they build these is co-owned by General Motors and Toyota.

Just like the rest of the auto industry...the end is near for individual thought and creativeness. Cant hardly tell one new car from another on the road. If it werent for the manufacturer's badging then Id assume they were all from the same place. First thought on seeing the pics...Nissan. Imagine that. And as for being identical to the Chubbie Colorado...wouldnt be the first time that toyota climbed into bed with GM. Sometimes I miss the 90's sooooo much. LOL Where do we get in line for our Soylent Green? ~Darin
Market efficiency my friend. Gotta keep costs down in order to compete for the customers and the capital. Gotta be cheap to sell to the customers, othrewise they buy Mazda Sundowners. Gotta make a profit for the shareholders, otherwise their money grows legs and walks over to Microsoft.

What we have here is....a failure to communicate. Some men you just cant reach...which is the way he wants it. Well he gets it. And I dont like that anymore than you do...
*Theres a reason my last purchase was an 87'4Runner. It still looked like a Toyota and acts like a Toyota. The way Toyotas should be! Removable top, classic sound of the Toyota starter thats recognizable across the largest parking lots etc. Plus it was cheap enough to warrant the purchase. By the looks of things to come I may be able to afford looking into one of these around 2010. **Greg- try the edit post option...no need to 3peat! lol unless of course that is the way you want it...well then you get it. And who cares if I dont like it anymore than you do... ~Darin

And besides...what I hear flat is in. Prolly gonna git my assets readjusted when I get home...but thats the price a mans gotta pay I suppose. Will be up in Port Townsend Saturday...stupid Valentines day anyways. At least with this marriage stuff all I have to do is get in the truck and drive. She makes the arrangements and packs my underwear for me.

i'm with brian on this one. i want a capable mini truck, but it seems that i'm gonna have to move to some other country to get one. it's a damn shame too, considering that north america gets screwed when we have the best wheeling in the world! oh well, guess you can't have it all.
i don't know why the tacoma needs to be bigger, we already have the tundra...

This truck is pretty obviously not intended to get dirty. For those of you who didn't read the article, that truck will outcorner a 350z. That in my book is damn impressive for a truck.
This is not a truck that was designed to be lifted or have huge mud tires strapped to it. It's for the street, plain and simple.
While it might be a bit underpowered to compete with the Lightnings and Ram's, its a still a toyota and a damn nice looking one at that.
If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be research

Well, I didn't mean to discuss that particular model of the Tacoma. I only brought that up to show what the 4x4 version will basicly look like and how big it will be. The TAcoma XRunner and the new Tacoma 4x4 are apples and oranges.
