Getting the Wheeling Fever

Does anyone know where I can get a ECM for my Montero? Mine was water damaged and is no good. If anyone happens to have one please let me know!!! I just bought this Montero from an Insurance auction, its in great shape, I don't know alot about them, so I'm ancious to get this one going and test it out. Mine is an LS, seems to be optioned well. I also have another control box of some kind that is damaged, I'm unsure what it is, but it is mounted near the ECM on the passenger side kick panel. Any info about these boxes would be greatly appreciated, and info about the Montero itself. I own a motorcycle shop, and we buy wrecked motorcycles, I just happen to see this Montero at the auction yard on monday and I thought it would make a nice trail rig, so I bid on it and got it for $210! Can't beat that.

That won't work in an '89. The ECU was unique for the '89 year. '90 and '91 ECUs are interchangeable though. Powell

Is the 89 a bad year since its a one only on the injection or electronics? Also, do the Monteros have LSD?

The '89 3.0 has more vacuum lines and an EGR valve as well as Multi-port fuel injection. In '90, they changed the fuel system to sequential multi-port, took away the EGR valve and therefore, much fewer vacuum lines to mess with. (and a different ECU)
Either way, I wouldn't pass up a good '89 Montero. It's still a great truck with an extremely reliable engine.
On the LSD, some of them have it. Open the driver's side door and look in the door jamb. If there is a bright orange sticker with black writing, it has the LSD rear.

There are two ECU P/Ns for the '89 V6:
P/N MD126339 - Engine Control Unit (California)
P/N MD136477 - Engine Control Unit (Federal)
