Hm. Does the IAC set the high idle on cold start? I havent tried tapping on it yet. I will check that out tomorrow. Is there any easy way to tes the idle up valve?

The hose I was trying to verify goes the intake manifold and also has a t in it which goes to the ADD.

Defnitely maybe...how's that for an answer on the IAC.

Now, I'm looking at the FSM, and in the troubleshooting matrix it lists that A/C circuit as being a potential cause of high or low idle.

To test it looks like another continuity test - should be between the terminals but not between either one and ground.

Air also shouldn't flow between the ports unless battery voltage is applied across the terminals. This seems like the simplest test.

Personally, I went and had a beer while a professional checked it.

Hmm. I will take a look tomorrow. The idle issue for me is just a starting problem. If I turn the key the engine will die when I let go because the idle is to low. If I tough the gas right away its fine. Seems like my truck likes these weird issues

Gas cap is fine. It was replaced recently and I still hear the pressure escape when I open it. Going to check out the IAC and the idle up valves shortly.

my vote is the IAC. you have two vacuum lines on it. are they cracked, loose, etc? that seems most likely.

We have a winner. It was my IAC. Soaked it with some o2 and emissions friendly carb cleaner this morning and now everything is operating as it should. I sprayed it a few times to be sure. Saved 200 bux

Cool. I found the same thing with mine, and a liberal soaking with Deep Creep and a little tapping also did the job. My a/c circuit was definitely also fried though.

I think my a/c idle-up valve has been dead for ~2 years. I will check that out later today. i didnt have a chance to let things warm up and check it out this morning. Hope that valve isnt too pricey smile
