we all do. Theyre the same, pretty much, the front wheel drives hav a little different block, but basicly the same engine as the minivans, lebarons, etc. there is an interesting website on the subject. Maybe someone can post a link??

well what I was getting at is I was trying to make sure that, that specific engine in the mini van would be transferrable to my '90 montero.
is there a difference between front and rear drive engines?
are the blocks the same, interchangeable I mean.

In about a month I am planning on doing the same swap that you are asking about, I actually picked up a reman one for 500 bucks! amazing! but I will let you know how it gos. The only thing that I see being a problem is that the oil filter for the front drive motors is in the way of the motor mount for the monteros. So, if you want to do the swap you would probaly want to have some experience, mechanically... I am going to make new motor mounts myself and get it to work in there!

Can you pull the oil pump housing (not the oil filter adapter) from the Monty 3.0 and bolt it to the Caravan 3.0????
